BEFORE THE SESSION

Whats the best age to photograph my newborn?

Newborn sessions work best if we shoot within the first week to week and a half after baby is born. During this time, your newborn will likely sleep most during the day, which will allow us to move her around without waking her easily.

When should I schedule my newborn session?

If you are looking to book a newborn session, I ask that you contact me during the third trimester of your pregnancy. A $30.00 non-refundable deposit will be required that will go towards your session will place your due date in my calendar. I will then write down your due date so that I know it is coming up.

How is the actual session date chosen if we book before our baby is born?

Once your newborn has arrived, have someone contact us immediately so that we can select a date for your session. To ensure the sleepy, intricate newborn poses, we advise scheduling a newborn session 6-8 days after delivery. Parents of breastfed babies should wait until Mother's milk comes in so that your little one will be sure to have a full tummy after every feeding. Bottle-fed babies generally take more per feeding, so they may be photographed as early as 5 days old.

Why does my baby need to be so young for a newborn session?

I firmly believe that the ideal time for a newborn session is generally when a baby is between 5-10 days old. They are still very sleepy at this time and are still comfortable being curled up similar to how they were positioned in the womb, so their legs tuck up underneath them very comfortably. I can pose them in all those sweet poses quicker and more easily while they sleep. Every passing day after birth brings more awake time and less tolerance to the posing and handling needed in my style of posed newborn photography.
